Invalidating Empty Invalidating

Being invalidated affects your self esteem.
Have any of you experienced this and how have you overcome and removed the negative energy?

Wow tough question. For me personally, I try to separate what another person thinks of me, and what I think about myself. Because sometimes people can see how strong you are mentally so they try and break you down by undermining you or disrespecting you. It's a mind game to try and weaken how you see yourself. Basically you are powerful and they are intimidated. So I just continue to tell myself who I am and remind myself where I'm going (and I am going to get there whether they like it or not because they are not my oxygen).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] being invalidated is hurtful because it makes us feel as though we are not worth being respected. Perhaps this person is not aware that they are dismissing you? If you are someone who needs to hear positive affirmations from others eg. "Thank you for cleaning the house", "You work really hard for us and we appreciate it", then I would suggest that you have a conversation with that/those people and express how their dismissive behaviour makes you feel slighted or not seen. Failure to change after you have communicated your needs, is definitely a sign of disrespect.

True maybe they are not aware that they are invalidating you but I think most of the times people do it on purpose. It's like what @Mother_Theresa said, they are probably intimidated and trying to break you down. Self-love is your weapon. The more you pour into yourself, the less other people's opinions or attitudes towards you matters.
